Atake Haruya grabbed at his chest, gagging.

The prison guards quickly looked up, “Oh no, not another one!” they yelled.

A year ago, they would’ve all run over, trying there best to get a medic to help. But things were different now, this was a regular thing. The prisoners waited in fear for Kira to find them, there was no way of escaping there fate.

If they were lucky, there names would’ve been spelled wrong on TV, and they might even manage to make it out of prison alive, but this was extremely rare.

Atake fell to the ground like a stiff scarecrow, and a minute later, it was as if the body had always been like that, never really alive.

Across the prison, the same fate came to Katashe Omana.

One by one, the prisoners started to choke, gag, scream and plead, until they dropped to the ground like the prey of a hunter.

That hunter, obviously, being Kira.

Light was feeling rather joyous today, and therefore, passed judgment more then usual.

He chuckled, remembering the thought of how much more difficult this had been when L and Misa were alive.

The “unfortunate” accident half a year ago sure showed how much easier it was without those two in his way.

Suddenly, his phone began to shake viciously.

He glanced at it with the corner of his eyes, wondering if he should pick it up.

Gently, he sat his pen down and flipped the phone open, moving it to his ear.

“Yagami Light.” He said orderly, “May I ask who this is?”

“I’m coming in.” He heard from a familiar sounding disguised voice.

“What?! Who is this, what do you want?” he replied cautiously.

After a moment of silence, Light spoke up again, “My father is a Police chief, I can easily contact him right away!”

Light heard soft beeping on the other end. Whoever that was had hung up.

“Hm, probably got scared hearing that, and decided not to mess around anymore.” He said to himself.

He sighed, leaning back in his chair. Suddenly, he shot up.

Just in case, though he thought, looking at the notebook.

Quickly, he closed the notebook, slipping it in its usual hiding space.

Almost right after, he heard his door creak open.

“Long time no see.” He heard.

Turning around, Light almost screamed out of shock.

There, in front of the open doorway stood L, with his insane looking smile on his face.

“Surprised?” he said calmly.

“Wh-What’s going on?! This isn’t happening, you’re dead! Y-You can’t really be here, it’s impossible!” Light yelled,

“Oh, am I? I didn’t notice.” L teased, “Oh, by the way, thanks for the confession of being Kira before you kicked me off the roof. That really helped my evidence.”

Light stared in disbelief. There was no way that this could be happening, 6 months had passed, he had continued being Kira with no worries in his mind. And now he was supposed to believe that L had suddenly came back from the dead, and remembered him confessing he was Kira. There was no way he could let L get away with this, or everything was over.

Light stared for a moment, then started to laugh insanely.

“You think that anyone’s going to believe you?! You were supposed to be dead, I doubt that anyone’s going to think of this as anything but another stunt of yours, Ryuuzaki.”

L smiled, “No. But I do have all the evidence I need. Believe it or not, there are surveillance cameras on the roof.” L replied, walking to Light’s shelf.

“Wh-What are you doing?!” he yelled as L opened the first door and used the pen as a key.

The false bottom slowly lifted, and then he slipped out the Death Note.

L smiled, dangling it from in between his middle finger and thumb.

“H-How?! How did you know-!?” Light screamed.

L reached into his pocket and pulled out a lighter, “Let me show you a trick I learned from my little brother, Mello.” He replied, holding the lighter up to the corner of the Death Note.

“Tick,” he said, quickly flashing the lighter on, then off just as quickly. “Tick,” he did the same thing, as the Death Note started to burn on the corner.

“S-Stop it!” Light screamed insanely.

“Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick, BOOM!” At the last one, he kept the lighter on, the Death Note lit up in a flair. He smiled, as if he had just one a board game.

“H-How?!” He shrieked like a maniac, “This wasn’t supposed to happen, how...”

Suddenly, Light looked much more collected and happy, “The Death Note’s gone, but there’s a dilemma in your plan, L.”

“Oh?” L said, not looking very threatened.

“Of course. I don’t need a Death Note to kill you.” He smiled evilly, opening a different shelf and taking out a gun, “My dad always had me keep this here for protection, this counts.”

L’s eyes grew wide, and finally started looking scared.

Light pulled the latch back on the gun, “What I’ve been trying to do for so long, and I can do it in an instance? Unbelievable. You know, L, it’s been fun, but I think we knew how it was going to end.”

Suddenly, someone hit the gun out of Light’s hand.

Light looked up, shocked, to see a familiar looking, petite, blonde model.

His eyes grew wide, “You too?!”

“No need to worry, Light, the police and Watari are on there way,” Misa giggled, “But really, it’s time to face it, game over, L won.”

Light stared at her, “You-! This is all your fault, what’s wrong with you?! Why!? What happened to your love for me, Misa?!”

“Puh-lease, I got over that a little bit after the ‘Your just a pawn in this game between L and me. You don’t really matter at all!’” Misa said mater-of-factly.

“Damn you, Misa!” Light screamed.

“By the way, Light,” L said emotionlessly, “Misa’s not a pawn in a game between us, if anything, she’s a queen. As she’s proven, she can move in any direction of the game board, she could kill me directly, also. Hm...in that case, as my other little brother Near would say, it’s kind of like a ‘Yugioh Card’ game. And she attacks my life points directly and...ok, I don’t know where I’m going with this.”

Misa laughed, “Ryuuzaki, you never told me you had a little brother!”

“Well, only technically.” L replied.

“Ok, look, this is a very touching talk about your beloved little siblings, but really, can we please get back to business?” Light said forcefully.

“What business is there to do? Your going to your own execution, what more is there?” L said plainly.

Light stared in disbelief.

“...No...of course, the deal of the eyes!” Light smiled, “Otherwise, I’d die anyway, so why not-“ Light looked up, “Wait, wh-where is Ryuk!?”

L sighed, “Naïve Light, did you forget that I burnt the Death Note? Therefore, the Shinigami, Ryuk, has gone back to his realm. That was my purpose for doing it, after all.”

“How did you know that would happen?” Light gasped hopelessly.

L pointed at Misa, “She explained it very thoroughly. You know, she’s a lot smarter than you say.”

Misa smiled and held up a peace sign, “Yup. And what were you saying about me being so useless? Maybe to you, but I can definitely work against you!” she giggled.

“No...” Light started, “If I am going to die, I’ll dispose of you first...”

Misa and L’s eyes widened, “Wh-What?!” Misa squealed in her high-pitched voice, “That’s crazy talk!”

“No,” Light smiled evilly, ”L could even be driven to suicide if that happened. At least I’d get even with you for revealing everything.”

Suddenly, Light grabbed a hold of Misa’s tiny body and threw her against the wall.

“Misa!” Light yelled. He turned to Light quickly. Just as fast, L kicked him in the face, causing him to fly into the other wall.

L immediately ran over to Misa, trying to help her.

Light got up and ran into the room, grabbing the gun, “Looks like it’s all over for you two.” He replied.

Suddenly, the police force busted down the door to Light’s room.

“Drop the gun!” the chief yelled.

Light narrowed his eyes, then laughed insanely, “If I’m going to die anyways, why not go out with a boom?”

Just as quickly, Light aimed the gun at Misa, after what seemed like forever, but was really a few seconds, he pulled the trigger.

The body hit the floor just as so many before, just like another criminal.

Light stared at the ground, “I guess your not all I thought you were, L.” Light shook his head disapprovingly, “Pathetic. Giving up your own life for her, I can’t believe you’d sink this low.”

Light spit at the bleeding body, and before it even hit L, Light felt a sudden, shocking pain in his chest.

Light slowly put his hand up to his heart, “N-No...” he gasped.

Light slowly dropped to the floor, barely able to hear Ryuk’s laughing.

“Didn’t I always say I’d be the one to write your name in my notebook?” he laughed hoarsely.

This was the second time in her life that Misa had been in a real ambulance. Both times the same people were in the truck, L and Misa.

Misa knelt over L, crying bitterly.

She put her hand up to the small, bloody hole in his torso.

“Why...this could’ve been me, this is the second time!”
For some reason, I think the writings a little better in this. Maybe its just me, tell me what you think, I guess.

I was really hesitant to make Light die, cause that would end our dear story! <:'(

Anyways, I'm glad I made L bring to everyones atention that Misa's not really stupid. And I had him bring up some of his "dear" little brothers. I dont know why, but i did, so deal with it.

I'll have him bring up Matt in the next chapter, dont worry. XD And maybe B, too. Yeah, thatd be cool. Oh, I forgot that he might be dead. whoops. Well, I guess we'll all have to wait till the next chapter.
